Recently, Resort World Casino in New York City officially announced a proposal to extend its full-fledged casino license, worth $5 billion, which will deliver one of its other various amenities, a concert hall and an entertainment center, to South East Queens. All of which form part of a leading effort to obtain one of the three Downstate gaming licenses.
Sweeten the bid:
Adjacent to Aqueduct Race Track, the casino intends to add 10,000 jobs to make its race with New York more attractive when applications for licenses officially begin later this year. Acquiring one of its licenses will allow Racino to offer table games like Blackjack, Bakara, Poker and Crab, in addition to existing video lottery terminal slots and other electronic betting games.
In addition to celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and Queens native rapper Nas, the group introduced their plans at the casino with an event that included a long list of politicians involving state Senator Joseph Adavo Jr. and borough president Donovan Richards.
Commenting on the expansion project, Senator Adabbo Jr., chairman of the Senate Racing, Gaming, and Wagering committees, said: “The new resort world is going to completely change New York City for the better. It’s all located right here in Queens, including job creation, parks, and entertainment. This isn’t a pipe dream or a distant proposition. It’s a tangible development that has a positive impact that the city and state should be able to witness as soon as possible.”
Regarding this, Nas, who mentioned his song “Queens Get The Money,” commented, “It’s an honor to be here, to be in this with Resort World, to realize the future, and to see what this can be and will be.”
Genting America Inc., a member of Genting Group, a Malaysian-based resort company, officially opened Resorts World New York City in October 2011 and has been reported to attract more than 5 million visitors annually.
Extension Proposals:
The expansion plan includes expanding the casino floor to 350,000 square feet, meaning it will be one of the largest hotels globally, according to information provided by Resort World. It will also add 1,600 fresh hotel rooms to the initial 400 that officially opened in 2021 at nearby Hyatt Regency JFK Airport.
That’s not all. That’s because there will be an additional 350,000 square feet of entertainment and conference space, including a 7,000-seat stadium, 10-acre green space for the public, a health center named after NBA champion Kenny “Jet” Smith, and a sports academy.
In this regard, the expansion could potentially open up 5,000 permanent union positions in the hotel and gaming sectors already this year, along with 5,000 construction jobs. However, this can only happen when and when they receive a license from the state of New York.
“Existing” Lacino, Yonkers’ Empire City Casino and Resort World are expected to receive two of the three licenses mentioned above, but not certain.
“Aqueduct Park”:
One more proposal, which is separate but is also known to be intertwined with the expansion proposal, was introduced by Resort World and is called “Acuduct Park.” The proposal hinges on horse racing’s “future integration” at Long Island’s Belmont Park. That would allow the state to begin the redevelopment process in the rest of the Aqueduct area to what could be another $5 billion project, said Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting America East.
He said that if the land was accessible, he would like to build a “new 24/7 community to complement the existing area.” This would include improving unspecified mass transit facilities connected to Manhattan and JFK, 50 acres of parks, and 3,000 households of “worker accommodation.”
In this regard, DeSalvio said, “We are proud to have grown together with the Queens community for more than a decade. According to an official press release, when we stood here more than a decade ago to break ground in Resort World New York City, our vision had already extended well beyond ambitious original plans. Today, that vision could soon become a reality.”
However, you must first get licensed before that can happen. Regarding the ongoing competition, Resort World is facing fierce competition across five boroughs, including one for the Queens, one for the Bronx and Brooklyn, and another for a handful of teams spread across Midtown Manhattan. One of the latter is said to be backed by Jay-Z, who worked with Nas in an epic partnership that began in the mid-1990s and ended with the “I Decorate War Tour” in 2005 안전한 파워볼사이트
