The table tennis national team was able to escape from the steamy shuttle bus.

The Korea Table Tennis Association announced on the 26th (local time) that it had decided to provide a 9-seater vehicle and driver to the national team dispatched to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

We also have accommodations separate from the athletes’ village. The accommodations are a 10-minute drive from the South Paris Arena, which has a table tennis court and training ground.

The Table Tennis Association provided vehicles and additional accommodation because of difficulties in traveling between the athletes’ village and the South Paris Arena.

The shuttle bus departure times between the stadium and the athletes’ village are not being properly adhered to, and the travel time is taking longer than expected, at 40 minutes to 1 hour, making it difficult for the athletes to maintain their condition.

As the organizing committee of this competition decided to minimize the use of air conditioning in order to ‘reduce carbon footprint’, there is no air conditioning on the shuttle buses.

The shuttle bus has fewer seats than the city buses in Korea, so the players have to stand in the ‘sweltering heat’.

The national team will now be able to travel in newly acquired vehicles if the shuttle bus problem persists.

The Table Tennis Association said, “We will prioritize dispatching vehicles to support teams staying in accommodations outside the athletes’ village, but if the issue of transporting the teams is not resolved, we will dispatch vehicles to the athletes’ village.”

It has been reported that the daily vehicle usage fee is close to 1 million won.

As a senior, not as the president, we decided to provide support because we wanted to provide some help to the players who have waited for this competition for four years.
