The Maryland State Lottery and Game Management Committee released its latest monthly earnings report showing the state’s casinos generated $154.9 million in gaming revenue for the month of October.
The latest figure represents a 6.3% decrease from the previous month, but an 8.6% increase in sales in October 2020. However, the committee’s report notes that casinos were operating at a 50% capacity during October 2020 due to the global pandemic.
In October, the casino donated more than $68.9 million in taxes and fees to the state, the same amount it paid in September, even though it generated low profits. Of that amount, more than $50 million went directly to the Education Trust Fund. Contributions to the October week increased by 15% in the same period of 2020.
The monthly report also details earnings by casino:

Horseshoe Casino — $17,180,270 down -0.9% from October 2020
Ocean Downs Casino — $7,664,457 up 10.3% from October 2020
Hollywood Casino — $7,639,030 up 9.0% from October 2020
Rocky Gap Casino — $5,795,487up 10.5% from October 2020
As reported last month, the Maryland State Commission was due to meet in October to discuss the launch of the sports betting industry and the approval of 17 operators/places that were allowed to submit their original applications. There was hope that the industry could be launched by the end of 2021, but it has since been pushed back to early 2022.
Following the meeting, Maryland Lottery and Game Control Agency President John Martin said in a statement: 릴게임
“We are obviously disappointed with the lack of progress at yesterday’s SWARC meeting, but we are pleased with the progress we have made in other areas. At this point, we hope to make the NFL playoffs in January and the Super Bowl in February
The statement also said five sports betting operators and their casino partners have been approved and are currently awaiting license issuance.
