The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) announced on Nov. 18 that they held a campaign to promote K-winter sports tourism in connection with the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games on Nov. 15-17 at Wanshang cheong, a large shopping mall in Shenyang, China. The campaign, held in collaboration with the Gangwon Province and the organizing committee of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games, promoted the event, which is scheduled to be held in January next year, and held various events to promote the charm of K-culture, including Korean festivals, hallyu, and shopping .On the 15th, friendly ice hockey and figure skating matches were held between Korean and Chinese youth .On the 16th and 17th, a total of 15 organizations including local governments, domestic and foreign airlines, local travel agencies, and duty-free shops operated booths promoting Korean travel .Other events included K-pop random dance performances and dance contests by Hallyu fans, Korean tourism talk concerts by popular influencers, and postcard making at Korean tourist destinations, as well as a hanbok experience zone and an Olympic sports experience zone. “We will continue to promote the appeal of K-winter sports and make every effort to attract Chinese tourists to Korea through active promotions in conjunction with the ‘2023-2024 Visit Korea Year,'” said Ha Sang-seok, head of the Shenyang branch of the 안전놀이터 Korea Tourism Organization.
