The Winter Youth Olympic Games, featuring teenagers, also utilizes state-of-the-art technology to accurately time athletes’ performances. The idea is to support their dreams and foster their growth .Alain Zobrist, CEO of Omega Timing, the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, met with local media at the Gangneung Speed Skating Rink in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, on Thursday to introduce the various technologies being used to time the Gangneung Winter Youth Olympic Games 2024 (Gangneung 2024).”We are utilizing the same core technology as the adult Olympic Games,” said Mr. Zobrist, “which means we are supporting the dreams of the athletes .”This is significant because the technology used at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics was recycled. These include photo finish cameras and motion sensing technology that debuted in Pyeongchang.

The photo finish camera takes 10,000 photos per second to measure the exact time.”Speedskaters compete with 8 grams of sensors on each foot,” said Zobrist, “and the photo finish camera and motion sensor technology provide information on their movement and performance by section and time of day .”Omega dispatched approximately 120 employees to the competition sites in Gangneung, Pyeongchang, Hwaseong, and Jeongseon to accurately calculate and organize the athletes’ scores .This is 40 percent of the total number of employees deployed for the Adult Winter Games (approximately 300).Considering that the number of athletes (1,802), events, and competitions at the Winter Youth Olympic Games is about half that of the adult Winter Games, the number of personnel dispatched was equivalent to that of the adult Games.

The design of the Last Lap Bell, which signals the final lap, is also the same as in previous Winter Games. In keeping with tradition, Omega will not be electronically replacing the last lap bell with a human bell. “The last-lap bells from the Olympic Games are stored at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the bells for this event will also go to Lausanne,” Zobrist said. The bells from the PyeongChang Games will be stored in the same place as the bells used for this event. Omega said it will unveil the new technology at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. “We are developing new technologies that utilize motion technology and artificial intelligence (AI),” Zobrist said, “so we can more accurately tell the story of what athletes went through to 무료슬롯게임 win their medals.”
