As soon as professional volleyball coach Philip Blanc took office, he gave the team the trophy in his first competition. However, Blanc said, “We will improve further,” and made up his mind not to be complacent.
Hyundai Capital defeated Korean Air in the men’s final match of the “2024 Tongyeong·Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Championship” held at Tongyeong Gymnasium in South Gyeongsang Province on Sunday. It was a great match as the final match. Hyundai Capital collapsed in the first set, but later displayed concentration and came from behind to win the match with a set score of 3 to 2 (15-25 25-23 19-25 25-19 15-13).
“It was tough,” Blanc said after the game. “It was a good start for Korean Air. Our receiving was unstable,” he added.
After the first set, however, Hyundai Capital showed completely different performances. In the second set, rookie middle blocker Jinyoung Kim took charge of the most points for his team, and the match was brought to square one in the fourth and fifth sets, followed by stellar performances by captain Huh Soo-bong, foreign striker Leonardo Leiva (registered Leo), and Asian quarterback Deng Xinfeng (registered Shin Feng).
“I kept thinking about how to overcome my poor performance in the first set,” Blanc said. “Thanks to increased efficiency in serve and blocking, I was able to win after the full set. I ordered my players to play aggressively.”
He did not spare any encouragement for the opposing team. “Korean Air is a very organized team. Such a team creates challenges whenever we meet,” Blanc said with a smile. “However, I welcome such a great game going forward.”
He also said middle blocker Jinyoung Kim has excellent potential. “Playing in the semi-finals and finals at the Cup will be a great experience for players,” Blanc said. “He is an athlete who listens and tries to learn during training. He will continue to play an important role.”메이저놀이터
He also promised to show better performance during the regular season. “I don’t know if other teams performed at their best. Still, I was able to identify other teams,” Blanc said. “But what’s important is our team’s tactics and players’ technological advancement. I will show them in the regular league.”
