The best result ever for badminton at the World Championships: 3 gold medals and 1 bronze

Korean badminton swept three of the five events at the 2023 World Individual Championships.
The team won the women’s singles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles, and finished third in the women’s doubles at the tournament, which concluded at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The three titles are the best ever for Korean badminton at a World Championship.
Most notably, Ahn defeated world No. 6 Carolina Marin 2-0 in the women’s singles final to become the first South Korean athlete of either gender to win a World Championship singles title.
So far this year, Ahn has recorded seven wins, three runner-up finishes, and one third-place finish through last month, reaching No. 1 in the world rankings in August.
