After shedding tears of regret on the court after losing the Women’s Korean Basketball League championship to Woori Bank, KB center Park Ji-soo cried tears of joy at the regular season awards ceremony.

Park won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the WKBL’s regular season awards ceremony for the 2023-2024 season on Thursday at the 63 Convention Center in Yeouido, Seoul. She was unanimously named the top star with 110 votes from the journalists. He won eight awards, including MVP, 안전 토토사이트 making him the most decorated player in the league’s history.

Park choked up for a moment, saying, “I think there were many moments when it was difficult and overwhelming to always have to overcome and endure.” His words brought some fans to tears. He said, “I can’t tell myself to overcome one more time. “It was a disappointing result, but I couldn’t give up because of the fans,” he said, “and I couldn’t give up. I played with my feet and I don’t have any regrets. I’m so proud that I don’t know if I’ve ever had such a strong season,” he concluded.

Cheongju KB finished as runners-up after losing in the fourth game of the best-of-five championship series against Asan Woori Bank on March 30. Park was moved to tears as she congratulated her close friend, Woori Bank’s Na Yoon-jung, on the court.

Park swept five statistical awards: scoring, rebounding, blocks, two-point field goals, and most valuable contribution.

After suffering from panic disorder in the 2022-2023 season, Park bounced back perfectly this season, as the stats show. His rebounding (15.24) and blocked shots (1.76) numbers were nearly identical to his 2021-2022 season, when he led the league in rebounding and was named Most Valuable Player. Park also swept the three voting categories, including MVP, as well as the qualitative awards for Best Defensive Player and Best Center.

While he didn’t win a championship, it was a huge relief from last season, when he was sidelined with panic disorder and watched his team fail to make it to spring basketball. Park suffered from a weight loss of nearly 10 kilograms and a decline in physical strength, but thanks to consistent medication and counseling, as well as the support and care of her family, she has regained her form and is one of the best players this season.
